Step 2, Design a Question!

When I was investigated in the environmental areas specially in the ventilation system, I was wondering why this effective methods doesn’t apply in buildings, so I started to find the answer of this question by reading about the disadvantage of these systems.

As Natural ventilation is the process of supplying air to and removing air from an indoor space without using mechanical systems, it needs openings, so due this element the main disadvantage of all type of natural ventilation is sound pollution and noise as well as all pollutants that comes in to the building from windows.

It becomes more important when we want to apply this system in such places that needs silence and  more, like healthcare or educational buildings.

So, I decided to put this issue as the main topic of research and develop it by studying more about it and the solutions that are considered, and investigate that, is there any solution for this issue and if yes, is it effective enough or it has some weakness to improve the ventilation system.

Step 1, Natural Ventilation System!

As I have mentioned in the previous post in the blog, I’m interested to improve my knowledge in the natural ventilation system. So, I’ve started to investigate in this field and I’ve decided to share some primary information about natural ventilation system in my Blog so I can explain about the the research topic much better.

First of all, as you can see in the picture below, there are three main categories in natural ventilation system:

Stack effect, Cross ventilation and Single- sided ventilation.

These systems have differences in their application that make them suitable for different spaces but also all of these system have same advantages and disadvantages. I’ve categorized some of these advantages and disadvantages of natural ventilation to discuss a question!

Research Method Course, Research Topic Ideas

Unfortunately, I’ve missed two primary sessions of Research Methods class because of late arrival to US and after studying lectures, I found that students did the brainstorm technique in class to find a topic for their research. So, I decided to do it at home and share it here.
I wrote many things that I know about sustainable design based my interests and knowledge and after that I tried to connect such areas that I think could be relative and I’m really interested to improve my knowledge in them.

Now, I think I find some keywords that help me to draw an intellectual baseline for my future research like: wind energy, ventilation, new materials and methods.
